How is a lift & slide door different from a normal sliding door?
The difference is in how the panel moves and seals:
- Normal sliding door: the panel rolls on wheels and closes against brush seals. It works well for everyday openings of moderate size.
- Lift & slide door: turning the handle raises the panel slightly so even a very heavy one moves with almost no effort. Turning it back lowers the panel onto the rubber seals, giving a much tighter, quieter and more weatherproof close. It is the right choice for very large openings.
Are big glass doors safe against break-ins?
Yes, when they are specified correctly. Our doors use multi-point locking hardware from brands such as Roto, G-U and Fapim, so the sash is held at several places instead of one latch. You can also add laminated safety glass or a security mesh for extra resistance.
Will the colour fade or peel, especially near the sea?
Our coatings come from AkzoNobel (powder coat) and PPG (PVDF), and are chosen for colour stability and weather resistance. They are suited to strong sun, rain and salty air. Regular rinsing with fresh water keeps them looking good, and we can advise on the best finish for coastal sites.
Can I add insect screens to large sliding doors?
In most cases, yes. Several of our sliding and lift & slide systems can take a built-in screen, from a clear fine mesh to a stronger security screen. Mention it when you request a quote so we can design the screen into the frame from the start.
